George Community Daycare

Communities without sufficient daycare resources often suffer from declining population and enrollment in local schools. Feedback gathered by school district officials and through various community meetings and surveys indicated the community of George and the George-Little Rock community school district potentially suffered from this issue. In an effort to verify community feedback and understand how extensive the problem is within the community, a study was conducted by non-profit First Children’s Finance in early 2018. This study concluded that the George area has a shortfall in available year around daycare openings for 94 children.

With the need for additional daycare firmly established, a committee comprised of members from local non-profit organizations, parents of daycare age children, public entities and area businesses came together to form the George Community Daycare Committee. Public meetings were held to consider feedback and gather ideas for potential solutions to the verified daycare shortfall. After considering all options and realizing that an existing facility within the community does not exist, the George Community Daycare set its sights on building a new 60 to 70 child, year around daycare center in George.
